Lunch At the Kims

A week ago we were invited to the home of  Dr. Kim ( art professor at SNU) and his wife for lunch. Their lovely condo is located about 20 minutes from the campus in a quiet area of Daejeon. Finding M&Ms at Emart has been a definate temptation but here's where my "Lose Weight Fast Korean Diet" really fell apart.
 Lunch at Kims
First course - steak on the grill (each piece twice the size of Weight Watcher recommendations!)
Second course - bread and four salads
Third course - shrimp on the grill (big shrimp)
Fourth course - acorn jelly and other "mini dishes
Fifth course -  cuttlefish on the grill ( looks a little like a dinner plate with tenticles)
 Sixth course- kimchi (of course)
Seventh course - baked potato (baked in the coals on the grill)
Eighth course - rice (big bowl), bulgogi, (shredded beef- we love this), various sauces and eight different
types of lettuce leaves with which to wrap the bulgogi
Ninth course  - about eight different kinds of fruit and small rice cakes

Time at the table = 2 and 1/2 hours!

Everything was served TO you on individual plates and EVERYTHING  was wonderful. Mrs. Kim and her daughter must have spent days preparing this meal and an equal amount of time cleaning it up! (Every surface in her kitchen was covered with pots, pans, utinsels, etc.
What a lunch!
(For those of you who know the Kims, he is retiring at the end of this semester from CNU, and he and his wife will be heading to Thailand where he has excepted  a position at one of the universities there. In addition, both plan to do  missionary work for the Methodist church.)
Lunch on the deck.
